Physiotherapy

If it hurts to move, consulting a physiotherapist is the first step to take. Don't ignore the pain. See a physiotherapist early and be correctly assessed.

Physiotherapy will provide you with safe and effective treatment. We do not only provide you with pain relief but also with the means to look after yourself in the long term.

Recent research shows that weakness of the deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles will prolong back pain.

Almost all Australian doctors refer patients with back pain to Physiotherapists in preference to other health practitioners. Physiotherapists are the only group of professionals appropriately qualified and educated to instruct in the necessary exercises.

If pain persists your Physiotherapist can order X-rays and will liaise with your Doctor as to the best course of action.

We have a wealth of expertise to help you. We have over thirty years of experience teaching and lecturing in the care and treatment of spinal pain. We have been netball, basket ball and rugby team physiotherapists.

As physiotherapists we can offer you:
  • Advice and assisting you to return to normal activity quickly
  • Improvement in your sex life by training your pelvic floor muscles
  • Joint mobility
  • Specific stabilisation exercises (such as Pilates)
  • Real-time Ultrasound to show you and train the deep core muscles
  • Postural advice
  • The opportunity to attend educational classes (small group or one on one)

Health Rebates and Referral?

You may consult a physiotherapist directly. No referral is required. Most private health funds offer rebates for physiotherapy treatment.

As the classes are very small and often on a one to one basis you are likely to get a substantial rebate from your health fund. Please ring for further information.

You may only require paying the gap as the direct debit system Hicaps is available.

We are members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and are bound by a professional Code of Ethics. We have access to extensive and continuing postgraduate education programmes
